This is a part-time subject-to-furlough TERM appointment, NTE 13 months with the potential to be extended up to 4 years. Subject-to-furlough is a work schedule that does not provide for employment on a full year-round basis. This means that it is subject-to-furlough for at least 2 weeks per work year. The employee will work part time (at least 32 hours per week) when in pay and duty status. Employee guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment.
Salary identified on announcement represents annual salary for a full-time work schedule. Salary will be prorated based on part-time work schedule.

Major Duties:
Provides administrative support and information to the Chief of Resources Management (RM) and
Program Leaders on the practical and technical aspects of office administration, including
budgeting, acquisition, and property management, human resources, and other administrative
support services, and performs staff work and training in each of these areas. Serves as the
primary administrative point of contact for the RM Programs. Collects data for the operating
budget. Programs and monitors expenditures and recommends restructuring of budget allocations
to deal with changing situations including availability of funds. Serves as advisor to the RM
Programs on procedures for the procurement of goods and services and purchases supplies,
equipment and services. Provides human resource information and assists with preparation of
position descriptions organizational charts and personal action documents. Serves as the primary
timekeeper for the RM programs. Supports programs through planning and documenting travel
with Authorizations and Vouchers. Serves as the Agreement Facilitator for the RM Programs.
Provides advanced knowledge of FBMS to the programs and provides training and troubleshooting
as needed. Serves as the Aviation Budget Administrator for the Park.

Area Information: Haleakala National Park is located on the island of Maui, approximately 30 miles from Kahului, the island's largest commercial center (population approximately 25,000). The Summit District is located at 7,000 feet elevation where weather is often cool, wet and windy. Summer temperatures vary from 50-70 degrees and in winter range from the low 30's to mid 60's. Complete shopping and medical facilities are available in Pukalani/Makawao area, about 19 miles from park headquarters. Elementary schools are located in Kula, Makawao, Pukalani and Haiku. High schools are located in Pukalani, Kahului and Wailuku. Public transportation is not available to the park; personal transportation is essential. Rental prices for an average 1-bedroom cottage range from $1300-$1600/month, $1600-$2300/month for a 2-bedroom cottage and $2400
for a 3-bedroom house; median price of a home is $650,000.
There is a 12.25% cost of living allowance (COLA) in addition to basic salary.

Experience:
ONe year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience such as budget administration, the operation of computerized information systems, purchasing, property management, travel, files maintenance, and preparation of a variety of forms and reports.
